It is no too late for us to make the right choices concerning healthy eating in order to keep or improve the level of our health.  To do this does require that we include fiber in our diet.  Foods containing both high and low fiber is essential.  Only those of us who have certain medical conditions should eliminate high fiber foods.  It is never too late to take control of our eating habits.  If necessary seek advice from your doctor.<span id="more-74"></span></p>
<p><strong>Low Fiber Diet Not As Effective As High Fiber</strong></p>
<p>Keeping your digestive system healthy as very important as it most often influences us during the day and can make a major change in our overall health. One way to find out if your diet is beneficial for your digestive system is to check your fiber intake. Having too little fiber in your diet can affect your health and the way you feel. The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for fiber is a good way to check whether or not you’re getting enough of it in your daily diet.</p>
<p>With so many over processed foods on the market and the trend to eat more than our bodies require, it is easy to have a deficiency in our diet when it comes to fiber. This because many of these foods cut out the beneficial properties that are found in natural plant foods such fruits, vegetables and grains. The majority of natural unprocessed plant foods contain a high percentage of fiber that is necessary to help maintain digestive health.</p>
<p>A major diet overhaul isn’t always necessary to include the recommended amount of fiber. Simply adding some vegetables such as carrots and potatoes to meals already raises your fiber intake. Fruits such as apples, pears, peaches and similar fruits can be eaten with the skin which contains a lot of fiber that is good for your digestive system. When buying bread, choose a bread that contains whole grain as this is healthier and contains more fiber than typical white breads or fine grain breads.</p>
<p>A lack of fiber can aggravate problems with digestive health such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). IBS a condition that is rising in developed nations and is becoming more and more common in our stressful lives. The symptoms of IBS include regular constipation or diarrhea or a combination of both as well as a feeling of bloatedness as well as discomfort. Adjusting your diet and increasing your fiber intake can make a big difference in managing this condition. For some people this simple adjustment in their diet is enough so that they don’t have to take any additional medication to manage the condition.</p>
<p>Another condition related to digestive health is diverticulosis. This potentially life threatening condition is caused when pockets are formed within the intestinal wall. If untreated, it can progress to diverticulitis which is very painful. This results when food is trapped within the pockets. <p>Switching to a high-fiber diet won’t necessarily remedy these conditions for everyone, but can help to improve them and lessen the complications and secondary symptoms that are associated with them.</p>

The human body requires both kinds of fiber to function properly.  But there are individuals who have specific conditions that would be worsened if they ate high fiber foods.  Whereas a normal human being without any medical complaints would be encouraged to consume a balance of both kinds of fiber, there are some who can only eat low fiber foods.  Diet must take into consideration the special needs of the individual.<span id="more-76"></span></p>
<p><strong>Low Fiber Foods Diet Unhealthy To Some</strong></p>
<p>Eating a high fiber diet keeps you a lot safer from getting a range of long term diseases.  They range from heart and arterial diseases to colon cancer.  The worst part is that they only manifest in old age when you are weak and vulnerable already.  Eating a balanced diet can save you form suffering at just the specific time when you are supposed to be enjoying the freedom of retirement.  However, there are some conditions where doctors and dieticians will advise you not to eat certain high fiber foods.</p>
<p><strong>Low Fiber Foods Diet Necessary In Certain Circumstances</strong></p>
<p>Fiber is the indigestible parts of plants.  You have soluble fiber and insoluble fiber.  Because high fiber foods are usually hard and coarse, some conditions require you to eat a low fiber diet.  People who suffer from Colitis or Crohns disease usually experience pain and discomfort when they eat too much fiber.  This can lead to severe complications and even internal bleeding within the intestines and colon.  Fiber also increases the pressure on the intestines which can be very painful.</p>
<p>Diverticulitis is another digestive disorder that requires you not to eat some of the rougher high fiber foods such as whole grain bread and nuts.  Diverticulitis is a condition where little pouches form inside the colon.  This condition is fairly common but becomes dangerous when the pouches rupture and become infected.  This condition can make the excretion of waste extremely painful.</p>
<p>For other conditions like constipation and diarrhea, a high fiber diet is actually strongly recommended by doctors.</p>
<p><strong>Low Fiber Foods Diet Doubts</strong></p>
<p>When you are looking to construct a low fiber diet plan, there are some obvious foods to avoid.  Anything that looks hard, rough and indigestible should be avoided.  This includes whole grain bread, cereals and nuts.  Some raw vegetables such as carrots might cause problems.  Cooking vegetables will greatly reduce the risk.  Popcorn is an obvious no-no.  Doctors report many diverticulitis cases caused by the ingestion of popcorn which ruptures the pouches and then later causes infection and great discomfort in the patient.</p>
<p>If you are in doubt concerning what you should eat and what you should not eat, then you have two basic courses of action.  If you want to save money you can do your own internet based research and construct a diet according to the information that you source.  You should only source information from credible sources though as the internet is a melting pot of ideas and some of them are just not right.  If you choose this course of action then you should realize that if you make a mistake you will certainly feel it.
