One of the most traditional foods that all of us know is the muffin. We all remember the delicious aroma of fresh baked muffins on a Sunday. These delicious baked goods come in a variety of delicious flavors such as blueberry, banana and even chocolate. For those of us who want to include essential fiber into our diets we can eat high fiber muffins. This is an excellent means of getting children to eat enough fiber. If the fiber is in a delicious muffin they will not even notice that anything is different. Give your family a treat and bake them some muffins with fiber.

High Fiber Muffins A Good Source

We have all been exposed to the media, lectures, Internet information, our local doctor has most likely spoken to some of us at length about the benefits of proper nutrition and diet. We are told each day about what foods we should eat, why we should eat them and the many benefits eating properly hold for us. Fiber is of critical importance in our diet as we need fiber to help our digestion, it is a good source of various vitamins and fiber aids us in maintaining good health. We all know this, but far too many of us still think of fiber and sawdust as tasting the same.

The trick is to find good sources of fiber that tastes good and make us want to eat more of it. With a little thought we can find many ways to incorporate extra fiber into our daily diet; think of the things you like to eat, make a list of these and then find out how you can take those favorites of yours and make them healthier by making versions of them that contain more fiber. A good example of this is muffins. High fiber muffins can taste just as good as those regular ones; you simply substitute ingredients that are high in fiber. That way you get healthy and tasty at the same time.

Making High Fiber Muffins

There is no real difference between how you make high fiber muffins from regular muffins. Instead of refined flour, you use high fiber flour and the same with any other ingredients you normally use. You eat them in exactly the same way; there are no special rules for high fiber muffins. They are just so much healthier and taste good.

Ready Baked High Fiber Muffins

The next time you walk around in your local supermarket; have a look at the packaging for muffins. You will find that high fiber muffins are clearly market and on the same shelves as regular muffins.

If you want high fiber muffins with extra health ingredients, you can go to your local health store for those. You still have to read the labels for not all muffins in health stores are high fiber, for health shops cater to many different health aspects.

If you like baking you can have lots of fun experimenting with regular muffin recipes. You can take the basic ingredients from regular recipes and substitute high fiber flour for a start. Then start experimenting with different ingredients, add fruit or nuts, try making oatmeal muffins that will be high fiber and as you become more experienced you will find many ingredients to add to create great tasting and extremely healthy muffins.

Every family should have a recipe book. Family life could never be complete without cooking meals every day and sitting around a table to break bread together. It used to be a great source of pride to be able to cook the meals that your mother or grandmother cooked before. Nowadays people rely on fast foods and seldom sit around a table to enjoy a home cooked meal. Your family recipe book should also contain high fiber recipes. The best way to find these is online. Try them out on your family members and write down your favorites. You can pass these on to your own children.

High Fiber Recipes Add Interest To Cooking

It is human nature to get bored with things. We do not want to do the same things every day and we definitely do not want to eat the same foods every day. We all need variety in our lives; this is what makes life fun and interesting. We should think about what we eat in the same way we think of other activities; find new ways to prepare food, new recipes to tantalize our taste buds. This holds true for high fiber foods as well; there are so many foods available that is high in the fiber we need to make our bodies work properly, we simply need to find innovative ways to prepare them and some interesting recipes will work wonders.

It is the easiest thing under the sun to get high fiber recipes. Do a search on the Internet and you will have literally thousands of websites popping up that specifically target high fiber recipes. One of the greatest myths that people cling to is that high fiber foods are not flavorsome and taste bland and unappetizing. Yes, there are high fiber foods that may be a bit on the bland side, but the majority if flavorsome while supplying our bodies with the nutrients we need to have our bodies function at efficient levels.

Prepare High Fiber Recipes From Scratch

Top of the list in high fiber foods are vegetables and fruits. This opens a vast scope for different dishes where you can combine these foods in specific dishes, or keep them separate and create innovative dishes that are high in fiber. Whole grains are another brilliant source of high fiber and you can have endless variety by using different whole grains. It is important that when you buy high fiber foods that you buy fresh ingredients and always check labels for ingredients and nutrients or you may get unwelcome surprises.

When you get to know what foods are high in fiber it becomes easy to alter your everyday recipes into healthy high fiber recipes. You need not drastically alter recipes to add fiber, simply adding different vegetables to your favorite casserole can do this. Substitute whole grain bread for refined bread and you can come up with delicious sandwiches that are high in fiber. Be bold and experiment with recipes, plan new meals and try them out on friends and family. If occasionally an experimental high fiber recipes flops, it is nothing to worry about, just get rid of it and chalk it up to a lesson learned. The important thing is to keep finding interesting ways to incorporate sufficient fiber into your daily diet.

Fiber is essential to our health, without it your body cannot function properly and waste is not eliminated efficiently. You can remedy the situation simply by incorporating sufficient fiber into your daily diet.
