Fiber should be consumed each and every day. If you make this a habit you will not be susceptible to a number of illnesses. Even if you do not understand why or how fiber works in the body just go ahead and start eating fiber as soon as possible. There are many foods that contain fiber and a good place to start is with fruit, vegetables and cereals. If you simply start by eating these every day you will definitely be getting fiber that you did not get before

Adding Fiber To Your Diet Essential

Fiber is the indigestible parts of food. Fiber is also referred to as roughage.

Dietary fibers are divided into two categories, soluble and insoluble. Nuts, most fruits and vegetables, and beans have soluble fibers. Wheat, seeds and rice are insoluble.

There are many ways to add fiber to your diet. A high-fiber breakfast cereal, fruits and vegetables, and wheat-grain products are options.

In today’s fast paced world there is little time to choose and prepare the right foods. We miss out on a nearly half of our daily fiber requirements

Is Fiber Necessary?

Fiber prevents constipation and increases the overall health of your digestive organs. A link has been found between low fiber diets and obesity. A combination of a low fat and high fiber in your diet can significantly decrease the chance of heart disease.

A high fiber diet has countless benefits for diabetics.

It is sad to know that with all the benefits that a high fiber diet holds that we only get half of our required daily fiber. For those of us who enjoy junk food, the amount of fiber we get from our food is even lower.

Most of us simply do not have the time to shop for everything we need every day. We prefer to buy foods that are easily and quickly prepared and that we can store for a long time. It is still important however, that we should get our recommended fiber intake.

It is recommended that you consume 25-35 grams of fiber a day. If you do not get enough fiber from your diet, then it is important to eat fiber supplements.

A number of supplements exist on the market today. The most common and newest supplement is a gum powder that is soluble in water. You also get seed husks that you can eat or mix with water. There are also a number of fiber shakes.

No matter what your lifestyle is, it is essential that you eat your recommended daily allowance of fiber. One apple contains 3 grams of soluble fiber. That means if you only eat apples, then you must eat ten apples a day.

This does not mean that you should go overboard though. Adding too much fiber to your diet can result in valuable minerals not being absorbed through your digestive system. It is unlikely that you would exceed the maximum recommended allowance of fiber in one day from eating just fruits and vegetables. However, if you overdo it with supplements, you can adversely affect your mineral intake and your overall health.

A balanced diet is important and adding fiber to your diet has numerous health benefits. Most of us do not have the time and need to take fiber supplements to ensure that we get at least 25 grams of fiber each day.

Very few people think about how many times their body excretes waste products. Using the toilet on a regular basis should be considered as an essential bodily function. It makes sense that what goes in must come out. However, for many there is a build up of waste in their digestive system for days before there is any relief. If this sounds like you then you must start eating foods high in dietary fiber. This is one of the simplest dietary complaints to put right. All you have to do is cut down on processed foods and eat fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grains.

Foods High in Dietary Fiber Keep The Body In Shape

Processed foods are easy, fast and convenient, but they lack in fiber. This is leading to more and more people discussing the benefits of a fiber rich diet. A low fiber diet can lead to digestive tract problems and an increase in the risk of developing colon cancer. It is important that people realize that they are sacrificing their long term health in exchange for short term convenience. Besides, fresh food always tastes better than processed food and has huge health benefits.

A fiber dense diet assists the digestive and excretive functions of the body. It is not good for the body to store up waste inside the digestive system. Eating enough fiber will ensure that waste will get pushed out of your system, thereby decreasing the risk of developing long term diseases. Fiber also helps to alleviate short term problems such as constipation. Eating a fiber rich diet also makes you less prone to unregulated snacking as the roughage fills your stomach and you feel fuller for longer.

Foods High in Dietary Fiber Easy To Find

Most natural food stuffs are rich in fiber. One of the best sources of fiber is any whole grain product such as bread and cereals. The fiber content of food is usually displayed on the packaging. This is called the ‘nutritional contents’. It is a bit harder when buying fresh produce as fruits and vegetables rarely come with nutritional labels. It is easy to build up an idea of their contents by checking for it on the internet.

Not only are fruits and vegetables rich in fiber, but they also contain all the vitamins, irons and minerals that your body needs. They are also rich in different kinds of amino acids which boost your immune system. Even dried and stewed fruit such as prunes and raisins are rich in fiber. Nuts and fruit pulps are also excellent sources along with root vegetables like carrots, turnips and potatoes. People who have gone on high fiber diets immediately reported a turn for the best in their energy levels and stamina through the day. Fiber rich diets therefore have short term and long term benefits.

Low fiber intake is the cause of many health problems such as obesity. Facing a fast paced lifestyle with modern pressures and little relaxation time is hard. It is even harder when you have to find the time to shop for and prepare balanced, healthy meals using fresh produce. However, this is important to do especially if you have young children. They will carry the benefits of a strong dietary foundation for the rest of their lives.

Don’t skip out on fiber, if you are too busy then rather buy fiber supplements than doing nothing about your lack of fiber.

If you have no medical reason for pursuing a no fiber diet then you are on the right path to getting one. A no fiber diet can be linked to many diseases. Very often, the reason for getting no fiber is because you are living on processed foods. Processed foods are very often the ready cooked frozen meals from the supermarket. Another killer source of processed food is the much loved taking out joint. It is so easy to use a drive-through instead of shopping for fresh ingredients and cooking a nutritious meal. Using high fiber fresh fruit and vegetables to makes simple salads and soups is not hard to do.

No Fiber Diet Can Have Tragic Outcome

If you suffer from chronic constipation and feel hungry all the time, then chances are that you have a no fiber diet. The problem with deficiencies in your diet are the long term effects, unlike vitamins that have short term implications, a lack of fiber takes long to present itself as a problem. This means that you can not get enough fiber for years and not know it until it is too late.

No Fiber Diet Carries Dangers

Low energy levels, sluggishness, laziness, constipation and irritability can all be signs of minor digestive problems. If these signs are not recognized and corrected they can develop into more serious and life threatening ailments. These include arterial damage, heart disease and cancers. The benefits of getting enough fiber far outweigh the schlep involved in ensuring you eat a healthy diet.

Improve Your Menu

Making positive changes to your diet is as simple as doing some research. You can make educated decisions based on the strength of your research. Another option is to consult a dietician or doctor and they will work out the exact requirements of your body based on your body.

A mistake a lot of people make is to set unreasonable demands at the beginning of their planning and then they become discouraged when things don’t work out. It is important that you plan your diet in a sensible way. You should make small achievable steps in the beginning which will give you the confidence to make bigger changes later on.

A small change you can make is to include more fiber in your diet and to get at least five minutes of exercise a day. A high fiber diet and exercise go hand in hand. When you eat more fiber you will have more energy and these two lifestyle changes inform each other. The more you get of one, the more you will want of the other one.

A no fiber diet is extremely dangerous to your long term health. Most people rely on preserved, fast or processed foods as they do not find the time during the day to eat healthy. There are lots of alternatives though that is high in fiber and much better for your health than processed and fast foods. Fruits and vegetables are good alternatives. They are ready to eat when you buy them and they are easy to carry around. On top of this they are healthy, high in fiber and give you a sustained boost. Foods that are high in sugar, especially refined sugar, will give you a short term boost but generally leaves you feeling drained and tired when the boost wears off.

You should consider abandoning your no fiber diet today
